About the event

Join the Jackson County Michigan Historical Society and the Spring Arbor community on Thursday, August 14 at 4:00 PM for a special dedication ceremony unveiling the historical marker for Snyder School. Located at its current site in Harmony Park in Spring Arbor, the restored one-room schoolhouse now serves as a museum preserving over a century of educational history. Originally established in 1840, Snyder School was one of approximately 7,000 one-room schoolhouses across Michigan and played a key role in educating generations of local students until its closure in 1952. The dedication event will include remarks from local historians and former students, a ceremonial unveiling of the marker, and tours of the structure. All are welcome to attend this celebration of community heritage and the preservation of a cherished landmark.
