Jackson County Poor Farm & Cemetery State Historical Marker Unveiling Ceremony

The state marker, which elaborates on the significance of this institution that cared for the least of these from 1839 to the mid-1960s, was researched by Jackson County Michigan Historical Society Trustee Linda Hass and sponsored by Blackman Charter Township. This large cast metal marker, with text on both sides, is registered on the state’s database and contains information not on the count historical marker at the site. Booklets describing the fascinating history of the poor farm and cemetery will be for sale at the event.
